Three AJP riders successfully completed the Gotland Grand National 2026, held from October 22 to 24 in Hejdeby, on the Swedish island of Gotland, overcoming some of the toughest terrain encountered during the event.

Known as the world's largest enduro race, Gotland Grand National celebrated its 43rd edition in 2026. The event regularly attracts more than 3,000 riders, bringing together competitors from different countries and experience levels for one of the biggest gatherings in the international enduro calendar.

Representing AJP Nordic, Kristian Ölvestad and AJP ambassador Joacim Boive competed in the Adventure Class on their AJP PR7 motorcycles, alongside fellow AJP rider Robert Balldinger.

The Adventure Class race took place on Friday, with approximately 1,200 riders competing across different starts throughout the day. Around 300 motorcycles lined up in Joacim's starting group, creating an impressive start to an already demanding challenge.

 

Three AJP riders, three finishers

The race proved particularly challenging, with deep mud, rocks and heavily rutted sections testing both riders and motorcycles.

One of the toughest moments came at Kraftledningsgatan, an infamous section beneath the power lines, known for its extremely deep ruts and muddy terrain.

Despite being only around one kilometre long, the section took Joacim and Kristian more than an hour to complete.

The conditions also brought mechanical setbacks. Joacim broke his gear lever, while Kristian's chain came off during the race. Despite these difficulties, both riders managed to continue and reach the finish line.

Joacim finished 15th out of 31 starters in the Adventure Class, with Kristian crossing the line just a fraction of a second apart. Robert Balldinger followed only a few minutes later.

With just 17 of the 31 Adventure Class riders completing the race, having all three AJP motorcycles reach the finish was a particularly satisfying result.

 

A rewarding finish for Joacim Boive

For Joacim, this year's result carried additional meaning. After being unable to finish the 2025 edition, returning to Gotland Grand National and successfully completing the race was a personal achievement.

The challenging conditions demanded patience, determination and teamwork, with the PR7s tackling terrain that would present difficulties even for lighter enduro motorcycles.

The result also marks another chapter in Joacim's 2026 racing season, following his participation at Forza Orza Enduro Festival earlier in the year.

The participation of AJP Nordic at Gotland Grand National continues to bring the PR7 into demanding off-road competitions, where its capabilities are tested well beyond conventional adventure riding.
